These small coffee cups are thrown on the wheel with a heavily speckled stoneware clay, and then slipped on the inside with a white stoneware before the first firing. I finish these with an all over ivory glaze, and then add expressive wide brushstrokes of cobalt wash, which melts into the glaze below creating a muted, lavender-blue tone amid the speckles.
