This small handmade stoneware utensil holder is inspired from old fashioned crocks and updated with a moody and modern twist. It is thrown on the wheel using a buff stoneware and glazed in an ivory demi-matte glaze with about one centimeter of raw clay showing to highlight the natural texture of the buff clay. I have then added an expressive brushstroke motif using an iron oxide wash which leaves a shiny black-brown finish. Perfect for brushes, pencils, or small kitchen utensils.
