Butter yellow and Iron Wash Barista Mug

This mug is wheel thrown using a buff stoneware clay and then glazed with a demi-matte butter yellow glaze. I have left a portion of the mug with raw clay exposed on the outside and added decorative expressive brushstrokes using an iron wash, making a modern rustic mug with lots of texture and surface variation. This mug features my more contemporary shape, called a barista style as it holds smaller volumes and lends itself well to foamed milk art when compared to my classic shape. Made in Margate, U.K.

Technical specifications: Mug is approximately 8 cm tall, 8.5 cm wide at the base, and holds approx. 300 ml. Each mug is handmade and unique so surface decoration and measurements will vary slightly. Please note that the iron wash can create a surface texture with small bumps and bubbles in contrast with the smooth matte glaze - see macro images for example.
